God and Religion
God is a figment of someones wild imagination. God and Religion were born out of the human fear of the unknown and an amalgamation of thoughts of a few wise people over the past milleniums to exercise control over the laity. Religion is a tool used by the Powerful [ by intellect and Monies ] to dominate the less fortunate people . You will be surprised to know that there were no temples of God 2000 or so years ago . There is no mention in the Ramayan or Mahabharat of Ram or Krishna or for that matter any other person going to a temple to offer prayers . People used to go away on their own to meditate and in search of God . There were Ashrams of different Rishis at different times but no temples dedicated to any God .Look for the history of any temple anywhere and you wont find any more than 2000 years old. The Cave paintings and Carvings at different places do not preach any religion but are mostly devoted to incidents . If you read the Ramayan and Mahabharat - there is not even the mention of Hindu as a religion [ that does not mean it did not exist- however there was no formal name given to it] . So coming to the crux of the matter- The emphasis on establishing one's religious beliefs started somewhere around the late first centurty A D - when Christianity started expanding its roots and routes .People hitherto unaware of any religious beliefs other then dished out to them from eons started feeling threatened and the powerful among them started congregating to keep the flock together. Thus came a place called Temple -wherein people of the faith flocked to express their solidarity . This gained momentum when the Muslims too entered the Religious Race . You now see a rat race to corner each and every nook and corner everywhere to emphasize how great your religion is [ which is fair enough] but more importantly how bad the other religion is [ which is worst] . T he tragedy in all this is that people who do not even know their own scriptures start dissecting other religious beliefs . I will capsule a book I read on evolution of the earth a couple of days back. I quote
'The system showed a long starting period.First 4 billion years single cell creatures.No change for next 2 billion years when a nuclei appeared in the cells. Growth picks up.Few hundred million years later multi cellular organisms. Few hundred million years later explosive diversity of life.By a couple more million years large plants and animals and complex creatures like dinosaurs . 2 million years ago early human ancestors.35000 years ago Cave paintings.If history is compressed into 24 hours, multi-cellular organisms in the last 12 hrs.Dinosaurs in the last 1 hour. Earliest man last 40 seconds and modern man last 1 second' unquote.
Now if God existed since forming the Universe why take so much time to create a man. Of course this discussion cannot be capsuled and done via an e-mail. However I have no doubt that Ram and Krishna walked this earth in fact- India and they were 'Yug-Purush but not God .

The Anti-Tobacco Movement
Anti-Tobacco Day---
A lot is being said and written about this today. Let me tell you exactly what happens to you after decades of smoking and this is first hand experience. It is known to all, that tobacco causes cancer and heart diseases. However you have a percentage chance to escape both . What you cannot escape surely is C O P D [ Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ]- Shortness of Breath, perpetual coughing , phlegm , mucus , bronchial inflammation and irritation- so on and so forth. Every puff you inhale, leaves a residue of carbon in your lungs. Lets see how-
To understand COPD, it helps to understand how the lungs work. The air that you breathe goes down your windpipe into tubes in your lungs called bronchial tubes or airways.
Within the lungs, your bronchial tubes branch into thousands of smaller, thinner tubes called bronchioles. These tubes end in bunches of tiny round air sacs called alveoli .
Small blood vessels called capillaries run through the walls of the air sacs. When air reaches the air sacs, the oxygen in the air passes through the air sac walls into the blood in the capillaries. At the same time, carbon dioxide (a waste gas) moves from the capillaries into the air sacs. This process is called gas exchange.
The airways and air sacs are elastic (stretchy). When you breathe in, each air sac fills up with air like a small balloon. When you breathe out, the air sacs deflate and the air goes out. C O P D includes 2 main conditions - 1. Emphysema and 2. Chronic Bronchitis. Second by second, minute by minute with each inhalation of smoke we destroy the air sacs or alveoli because of the residual carbon .
When you lie down at night, you cannot sleep properly- have to raise yourself for some degree of comfort and even then you are unable to breathe deeply .
I am telling you from personal experience that even if you escape Cancer and Heart trouble by some fluke chance- you cannot escape this and in all probability will lead to death . Doctors tell you about Cancer and Heart trouble when you consult them but perhaps because this is a slow train to Destination Death- they do not appraise you of C O P D with the same degree of seriousness or not at all .

Sibling Conundrum
Siblings Conundrum.
Animal siblings along with humans [ some theory says that humans are animals too] display a lot of love and camaraderie in their growing up years. While animals continue to exhibit the same instinct as grown ups [ by sharing their kill- hunting together in packs etc.], the same does not hold true for humans. Siblings who are inseparable as kids, who share each and everything and are the cynosure of each others eyes- grow up to despise each other- not sharing even an eye glance. The vile AVARICE, taking over their rational thinking. An adage in Hindi or is it Marwari says पूत कपूत तो धन क्यो जोड़े, पूत सपूत तो धन क्यो जोड़े. Well this are not idle thoughts.
I am saddened by the behaviour of the sibling of a family I know. Humble origins. Both parents working hard . Post their retirement, evenly distribute their wealth according to the value at the time of distribution. Two siblings are given real estate- the third is given Cash [ which is much more than the value of the immovable property given to the other two. The two quiver at this anomaly but accept amicably . By a quirk of fate, the real estate prices soar to astronomical level- making the two delirious but the third one cranky. The third starts squabbling and nagging the parents no end . The siblings are gracious with each other at social gatherings , so much so that none are aware of their avaricious infighting . Peace is brokered by the parents by offering the sibling a sizable monetary sum in lieu of the escalated real estate price. Have no words to describe this skulduggery and have no sympathy for the parents too, for succumbing to the blackmail of the children
