Siblings Conundrum.
Animal siblings along with humans [ some theory says that humans are animals too] display a lot of love and camaraderie in their growing up years. While animals continue to exhibit the same instinct as grown ups [ by sharing their kill- hunting together in packs etc.], the same does not hold true for humans. Siblings who are inseparable as kids, who share each and everything and are the cynosure of each others eyes- grow up to despise each other- not sharing even an eye glance. The vile AVARICE, taking over their rational thinking. An adage in Hindi or is it Marwari says पूत कपूत तो धन क्यो जोड़े, पूत सपूत तो धन क्यो जोड़े. Well this are not idle thoughts.
I am saddened by the behaviour of the sibling of a family I know. Humble origins. Both parents working hard . Post their retirement, evenly distribute their wealth according to the value at the time of distribution. Two siblings are given real estate- the third is given Cash [ which is much more than the value of the immovable property given to the other two. The two quiver at this anomaly but accept amicably . By a quirk of fate, the real estate prices soar to astronomical level- making the two delirious but the third one cranky. The third starts squabbling and nagging the parents no end . The siblings are gracious with each other at social gatherings , so much so that none are aware of their avaricious infighting . Peace is brokered by the parents by offering the sibling a sizable monetary sum in lieu of the escalated real estate price. Have no words to describe this skulduggery and have no sympathy for the parents too, for succumbing to the blackmail of the children
